About the print

Jamal is a descendant of abolitionists. He believes the only resolution to the incarcerated state is to reimagine it.

Elmira dropped out of High School to help her mom with rent. She worked from the time she was 16 until she retired. None of her employers offered health insurance, so when she retired her lack of health care caught up with her, and she became a candidate for dialysis. Had Elmira had access to healthcare some of her health issues could have been prevented or better managed.

Yasmin wants to see Palestine become its own country. They know that Mexico and Palestine share the same brutal border.

Chantrise always wanted to heal people growing up. Back when she carried her old cigar box of bandaids and ointments, she helped any family member that needed care. As a nurse, Chantrise wants to see all people get access to reproductive and primary healthcare.

Daniel loves football, and what most people don’t know is he wants to be a nurse to help his fellow hemophiliacs. A summer job doesn’t pay for college anymore, and his dreams are on hold.

Juan was a bracero. He arrived in the U.S when he was 16 years old. The job he retired from paid $8.50 an hour.

I am excited to let you know that the Library of Congress has cataloged all of the posters and they have loaded them to the public online catalog.

Here’s a link to the Prints & Photographs Division Online Catalog: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/search/?q=amplifier+poster+lc-dig&st=grid

And you can also search directly from the Library’s homepage: https://www.loc.gov/. To narrow in on the most recently acquired pandemic-related posters, try the search phrase: amplifier covid-19

Anyone, from anywhere, with web access, can search and find, using a variety of subject terms. The library has included notes, artist statements, artist names, Amplifier, etc. And we look forward to continuing to share the physical posters with researchers and visitors in person as well.
