Angela Faz Art | "Oak CLiff is for Lovers" 18x18 Birch mixed media May 2010 Donation- Ultra Violet

angela faz artist
Oak Cliff is for Lovers is a print I created from a silkscreen I made in the dead of winter here in Vermont. I was homesick for the taco stands, warm weather and easy nature of southern life. I created this piecefor UltraViolet. The UltraViolet Rock Show is a benefit with the specific goal of raising funds to support research to find a cure for cystic fibrosis. In their first year, they raised just over $8,000 and the next year they rounded out at $13,750.

This is my first time participating in Ultra Violet.  I wanted to create a piece that was fun and reflected my love for the Cliff...Hope you enjoy it.

I am printing T-shirts because the bored was so well recieved. Special Thanks to local photographer Ange Fitzgerald for
purchasing my piece and sharing the love. You can purchase my wares here at ETSY.

Angela Faz Art | "Least of these" 18x18 Birch mixed media April 2010 Donation- Art for Darfur

Art for Darfur is a movement in Dallas of students, artists, activists, faith communities, educational institutions and non-profit organizations who recognize the power of art to raise funds and awareness for the crisis in Darfur, Sudan.

This is my second year participating in Art for Darfur.  I wanted to create a piece that could spark dialogue and facilitate viewer’s interpretation. This particular piece of wood had an interesting arangment of pre-existing knots from the wood panel.  The knots appeared to mimic faces so I riffed off that. The rest of the piece flowed in various stages...Hope you enjoy it.

If you have any feedback feel free to email me here. Thank you for viewing.

It’s been about 17 years since I was exposed to Printmaking.  Polly Diskey at the Arts Magnet High School gave us the space to explore in the printmaking lab. She played Pink Floyd in the studio and really encouraged us to seek and explore different mediums.  As a graphic designer I value this creative process more than ever. Art has truly come back to me as a much needed expression.  Moving to Vermont by way of Texas has reawakened interests. Lots to make and the time to do so. yay!

This piece started as a painting on wood. Then I searched for a raw epic icon to draw. Who else but Woodie Guthrie embodies raw power --at least in my book.  I hope you enjoy. Thanks for stopping by.
